Technical Rope Rescue
The ability to self-rescue for any rock, ice, alpine climber are imperative skills. Along with the freedom to travel in the mountains comes the responsibility of self and partners. Mountain travelers need to deal with the rescue of self or a team member. Although rescue services exist in the Mountain Parks of Western Canada and many parts of the US and Western Europe, distance, time or communication constraints can hinder timely responses and the onus is on you.
If you’ve ever wanted to know how to get your hands free to make a cell call for help after your partner has fallen and become seriously injured on a steep pitch of rock with 40meters of rope out on a 60 meter rope.
Can you deal with it?
We can show you how to deal with these technical problems. We can teach you how to tie off the belay to free up your hands to make your initial emergency call out, also to learn how to transfer your rescue load to an anchor safely and all of the other eventualities that may arise.
Whether its mechanical advantage systems, raising on a multi-pitch rock route, crevasse rescue systems and strategies, rescue lowers, tandem rescue rappels on either rock or ice and everything else in between - we can show you that it is not only possible to become proficient with these skills but actually finish our program and feel confident that you can think these problems through, formulate a decision and then act appropriately.
