Last week I guided the route Valleyview on the east side of Cascade Mountain which is the iconic post card peak visible when walking down Banff Avenue. Valleyview is a relative newer style bolt equipped route first climbed by local guide Mark Stewart in 2001. The route is rated at 5.9 but has a few fairly thin friction moves on it that keeps you on your toes for a few moves here and there.
Tiffany Painton was my guest and she is actively in pursuit of her dream to become a Mountain Guide through the Association of Canadian Mountain Guides (ACMG) training and certification body, the Canadian Ski and Mountain Guide Program. Tiffany was excited to check out Valleyview and learn a few tricks along the way and I was happy to have her along and impart any wisdom that would be to her benefit since I was once in her shoes in my younger years.
Also with us was John Price, adventure photographer extradinaire and Katharine Erwin who is a freelance writer who was writing for online publication Cool Hunting. We had an awesome day and Katharine's story just got published on Cool Hunting today June 21st 2017. Check it out: http://www.coolhunting.com/travel/canadian-rockies-mountain-guides
I am pretty humbled and excited to have the opportunity for a bit of press for Canadian Rockies Mountain Guides and also showcasing these incredible mountains that I am fortunate enough to call my home! Big thanks to all those involved that made this happen
