Welcome to the Canadian Rockies Mountain Guides!
We are small independent guiding service
We specialize in custom climbing courses and guided mountaineering trips across Western Canada and abroad. We provide services for all mountain sports including rock climbing, ice climbing, mountaineering, via ferratta and back-country skiing. We are licensed by Avalanche Canada to provide Avalanche Skills Training (AST 1 & 2) courses as well.
What sets us apart is that we are a small operation that focuses on providing our clientele highly personalized service. With CRMG's, you will be dealing with one person through your initial contact right through to the day we are climbing or travelling together. We are not a guide booking agency or a mountain school where your guide may have varying levels of certification and/or experience. Your initial contact with us will be directly with an experienced, fully certified ACMG/IFMGA Mountain Guide.
Our two guiding seasons break down roughly into winter and summer. In the winter, we provide ice climbing guiding services offered either as private guided ascents or ice climbing courses. In addition to winter ice climbing, we offer backcountry ski guiding service and Avalanche Skills Training courses licensed through Avalanche Canada.
Rock Climbing is one of the most rewarding physical problem solving activities in the mountains. We can teach you the technical skills you need to develop your own self sufficiency or accompany you on your chosen route(s). The Canadian Rockies has literally hundreds if not thousands of rock climbs around the greater Bow Valley areas of Canmore, Banff and Lake Louise. There is phenomenal early season rock climbing at the Skaha bluffs in the southern Okanagan as well as the sweeping coastal granite of Stawamus Chief in Squamish.
If you have an alpine climbing objective(s) we can facilitate your mountain goal(s). Alpine granite of the Bugaboos of the Purcell mountain group, high quality alpine quartzite of the Selkirk mountain group in the Roger's Pass. There is a short list of ultra classic Canadian Rockies alpine climbs, please inquire and we can provide suggestions based on the time of the year and conditions to make your dreams reality and can plan a trip well suited to your needs and abilities which will make the most of your valuable time here in the mountains. In addition to private guiding, we have over 15 years of experience teaching rock climbing, mountaineering, glacier travel, crevasse rescue and rock rescue courses, please have a look at our Rock Climbing Courses Page.
If the listed courses are not what you are looking for, we can personally tailor a custom made program by defining your goals and achieving your objectives in a time frame that suits you or your group; in an appropriate environment conducive to success.
